I had seen Aussie melodic rock legends 1927 a couple of times in the past 18 months, but without question tonights show was the best by far. Admittedly the other occasions had seen the band performing in a much larger stadium, support the likes of Roxette at Rod Laver Arena for example, but tonight it seemed the band was exactly where they are best suited, in a more intimate setting, playing their own 90 minute headline show.
Combining both photgraphy and also review for May The Rock Be With You, I had the best of both worlds - an opportunity to get pretty close up for a 3 song photo snapping, then sit and relax on a sofa booth for the remainder of the show. Not exactly the most comfortable sofa/booth I have sat on, but hey, it's better than standing up!
This was the first live show I had photographed since back in June, so it was great to blow away the cobwebs so to speak and get myself ready for a big bunch of shows coming up, the first being Slash today, in about 5 hours!
Lead singer Erik Weidemann was pretty lively during this set, which offered up some cool action shots. Whilst I didn't take these photos in black and white in the camera, for some reason black and white was calling my name whilst I was sitting editing these shots. I think it worked well in the end!
